First Attempt
Okay my first attempt is to hack down the huge stock S2K housing so it fits into my 9 inch wide clearance I have in the Pantera headlight housing. As you know the stock Pantera has some ugly very ugly stock "frog eyes" look type of headlights, I want to eliminate it and go into the current generation where HID rules the road and want to go with it equipped with the best of the best HID equipments.
Now after my on going long research and the help of a e-bay seller Dan Chan who sells OEM headlight housing and hid units, I was able to learn the best most noticeable headlights from the HID is the low beam projectors from the Honda S2000, they are claimed the best as they have the best cut off in their light beam and give the best lighting output that one will never mistaken for something else.
Here's some pictures of after my long going hacking and then covering the outside with a molded lexan or also known as polycarbonate sheet I made.
So as you can see I did modify the housing A LOT! I didn't take pictures of the steps I took because it would include too much... Lets just say I shortened it in all dimensions and wanted to keep the stock high beams because then I didn't have to redesign the front face and could keep the headlight adjustments and etc.
The pictures are pretty dark but you can see the basic shape of how I molded the headlight housing, I finished it off by using a propane torch to torch the plastic so I could mold it faster and of course this creates bubbles since there's moisture inside the plastic. But since this doesn't need to be clear and I am planning to spray it black, it doesn't matter how it looks.
Here you can tell I sliced off the front of it and decided to keep one of the mounting legs in the front, and I had to fill up the space with Plastic Welder from Devcon, it's a type of epoxy for plastics and I used it to reinforce the front mounting legs.
Here's the HID equipment I got from Dan Chan, the e-bay seller that answered all my questions I've had when learning about HID's and Projectors. I bought the high beam H1 bulbs which are the best ones from Philips, the VisionPlus from http://www.autolamps-online.com The HID bulbs are from Philips, the D2S HID bulbs, the ballast is from a BMW vehicle and is made from Hella.
EwWwieee... stock round pop up halogen lamps that looks like real Frog Eyes!... EEekk...
Yep so that's basically how it looks if it was to pop up and open up, now doesn't that look so much better then a huge round pop up headlight?... I think it gives it some type of snake eyes when looked straight on hah..
Now here for the next set of pics, you see how the light beams of BOTH stock headlights popped up and opened up compare to ONE HID equipped S2K headlight shined against the wall. Actually the car is on the Hunter Alignment machine that's why it's so close to the wall and why there's a machine there heh.
Ha Ha Ha, now you tell me which one WOULD you like to drive with?...
But bad news, after all this work, it won't fit inside the headlight housing space, there just isn't enough clearance in it. So after a lot of thinking I have to scrap it and get the Hella 90mm High Beam and make a new housing, front plate and everything but keeping the low beam projectors and HID unit from the S2000. Of course I will keep you up to date, the high beams should be coming in a day or two so a new project will begin...
